Consultation on HMO definition categories

The Scottish Government is seeking views on adding new categories to the definition of an HMO. The aim is to address potential health and safety concerns in relation to the accommodation that contract and transient workers live in when they are working away from their home. At present, it is often argued that this accommodation doesn’t require an HMO licence because it isn’t the only or main residence of the occupants.

The consultation was sent out to SAL members in our member enews of 26 April.

You can find out more online, and up until the deadline of 8 July 2019 you can respond to the consultation via the Scottish Government website here.
