Spring Budget 2024

by EQ Taxperts

Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, delivered his Spring Budget on Wednesday 6 March 2024 that focused on the previsions for “long term growth”.

With impacts on the tax treatment of furnished holiday lets, you can see full analysis of the announcements made yesterday from EQ Taxperts here.

John Blackwood, SAL chief executive, commented:

“Unsurprisingly the UK government, like the Scottish Government, fails to recognise the importance of stimulating growth in the private rented sector by supporting lettings businesses and allowing us to continue to provide much needed homes to rent.

The Chancellor’s announcement to increase taxes on holiday lets and cuts to Capital Gains Tax will make no meaningful difference to the supply of long-term rental properties and was a missed opportunity to make providing new homes to rent a priority.”
