PRT suggested additional terms

Landlords who are setting up new Private Residential Tenancies (PRTs) are reminded that SAL has a list of suggested additional terms to add to the Scottish Government’s model lease. These cover a number of scenarios which are not mentioned in the model lease including how abandoned possessions will be dealt with, allowing access for viewings and testing smoke detectors.

We do occasionally made amendments to the additional terms so we always recommend downloading them from the website immediately prior to each tenancy you draw up. As a result of our analysis of tribunal case law we have recently added a new term to ensure that landlords are able to pursue former tenants for the cost of tracing their new address if they fail to provide one when they move out.

Our guide to setting up a PRT including a list of the suggested additional terms can be found here, (members please remember to log in to download resources).
