Private renting in Aberdeenshire

Message from Aberdeenshire Council:

To encourage more people to consider renting privately as a housing option, we are keen to make sure as many landlords as possible are aware that Aberdeenshire Council can assist with advertising any vacant property via the Council’s website – Landlords: advertising your property with us – Aberdeenshire Council. 

Not only that, Aberdeenshire Council can also guarantee a tenant’s deposit, up to their Local Housing Allowance entitlement, for the entirety of the tenancy – Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme – Aberdeenshire Council.  This helps prospective tenants, who do not necessarily have a deposit ready, move more quickly into the private sector. It can be used by both those claiming benefits, or in employment, and a financial assessment is done, if applicable. During the course of the tenancy, ongoing support can be provided to both parties to help resolve any issues that may arise, in the hope of promoting tenancy sustainment.
