Analysis of short let consultation published

Earlier in 2019 the Scottish Government carried out a public consultation on whether to introduce a regulatory framework for short-term lets in Scotland.

SAL submitted a response to the consultation which can be found here. While we recognise the value that short-term lets provide to the Scottish economy, we called for parity in regulation and standards between the short-term let and the private rented sector to protect communities, remove rogue operators from the market, ensure the sector contributes to the public purse and ensure the safety of guests.

The government has now published an independent analysis of the consultation responses which can be read here. Overall, a majority of respondents supported regulation for short-term lets in some form.

The government has announced that it plans to set out its proposals for the regulation of short-term lets later in the year.
