How many “old” tenancies are still running?

With the Scottish Parliament currently considering a Housing Bill which includes a provision to convert assured/short assured tenancies into PRTs (private residential tenancies), how many tenancies would this affect?

SAL has looked at tribunal data on eviction applications which reveals that in the first eight months of 2024, 32% of eviction applications related to assured or short assured tenancies. Looking at the same period in 2021, the figure was 35%, so it is falling very gradually.

Since 1 December 2017 all new tenants moving into properties have been required to be issued with a PRT tenancies. Further details on the Housing Bill provisions can be read here.
