Hotpoint/Indesit washing machine recall

Landlords have a duty of care to ensure their property is safe for their tenants to live in. With this in mind landlords should be alert to product recalls and ensure that where a recall is issued for a product they have supplied in a rental property, that they take urgent action to have the item repaired or replaced.
 
Members may have read in the press that Whirlpool are recalling some models of washing machine manufactured under the Hotpoint and Indesit brands between 2014 and 2018. In some cases components in the washing machine can overheat and catch fire. You can check if your appliance is affected here. If you have an affected model in a rental property it should be repaired or replaced as a matter of urgency.
