GDPR – we can help you comply with the new rules

When does the GDPR take effect?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on 25 May 2018.

What is the GDPR?

The GDPR will change the law surrounding data protection and will affect the way you, as a letting agent or landlord, process personal data and you do need to be compliant with the rules as of 25 May 2018. The regulation is geared towards giving back the person, whose data you are processing, the power of controlling what is done with their personal information.

What do landlords and letting agents need to do?

The regulation will require landlords and letting agents to look at their privacy policy, and the day-to-day practicalities of how they process and store personal data. It will also require letting agents to consider the contractual relationships they have with third party organisations, such as maintenance contractors and most likely require that their agreements be updated to fall in line with the GDPR.
