Free mock housing mediation session: 16 June

Strathclyde Housing Mediation Project invite members to observe a“Mock Housing Mediation Session” on Wednesday 16 June at 11.00am – 12noon. This is an external event run by the Strathclyde project.

This event is free with registration required via Eventbrite. A link will be emailed to registered participants nearer the time of the event.

Mediation makes particular sense for housing matters. Cost-effective, efficient, and pragmatic, it is less damaging to relationships than formal action.   The consensual approach means agreements are more likely to be fulfilled, reducing the risk of eviction.

This webinar event will demonstrate how a mediation session works and will focus on a “typical ” tenant/landlord housing case within the Private Rented Sector.

Participants will be able to observe how two mediators along with two parties attempt to guide the parties to resolution.

Who is this event aimed at?

This event is being marketed as useful to both landlords and letting agents, plus tenants as well as those working within organisations that deal with issues such as repairs, rent arrears, deposits, communication, and general tenant/landlord issues.

Anyone who has an interest in housing, including mediators, and is interested in alternative ways to resolve disputes will also find this helpful.

The event will be facilitated by Charlie Irvine, the Director of the Mediation Clinic.
