Data (Use and Access) Act 2025: Changes to UK Data Protection Law

The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (DUA) became law on 19 June 2025 and, once implemented, will make changes to the UK’s data protection framework. The UK Government is taking a ‘staged’ approach to introducing the changes, with most expected to take effect in December 2025 and June 2026.

Letting agents and landlords should take note of these key changes and prepare accordingly. For a summary of the key changes being introduced, click here to read a blog written by TC Young. (Please note you will need to be logged in as a member to view the blog).

The Scottish Association of Landlords will be providing an updated suite of their data protection documents, updated by TC Young Solicitors, reflecting the changes introduced by DUA, to help you prepare and stay compliant. The updated documentation will be made available later this year to give members time to prepare and ensure they are ready for full compliance ahead of the implementation dates.
