Changes to model lease

The Scottish Government has made minor changes to its model private residential tenancy (PRT), to reflect the extension of the Cost of Living (Tenant Protection) (Scotland) Act.

The changes to the model lease are highlighted in the lease template which you can download here. Members please remember to log in to download documents – just let us know if you need any help to log in.

Anyone with a version of the model PRT saved should ensure that they update their documents to reflect these changes. There is no requirement to issue details of the changes to current tenants or provide current tenants with a new PRT lease.

Members should note that the government has not yet updated the lease generated by the “create a tenancy” website. We have alerted the government to this on two occasions and they have assured us they are working on an update. We will inform members when this has been updated. Members wishing to use this website can continue to do so. The tenancy produced will not be the latest version but it is fine to issue that to tenants for the time being.
