Call for input into market rents survey

Rent Service Scotland (RSS) is part of the Scottish Government and gathers privately let rental information, known as market evidence, to calculate the local housing allowance rates and provide rent valuations for private and housing association properties.

It provides support to local authorities, the Department for Work and Pensions, tenants and landlords across Scotland on rent levels in the private rented sector (PRS) and to housing associations. This includes the provision of rent valuations, setting local housing allowance rates and gathering evidence on market rents.

Market evidence is updated rent information that RSS is required to gather from letting agents, landlords and tenants. It is used to produce statistics for its market evidence database. This provides a detailed presentation of private rental values, trends and distributions.

To ensure our information is up to date and accurate, we need your assistance in gathering information on rent levels across the whole of Scotland.

All information will be used by RSS only – it will not be shared with any other party or organisation and it will be held securely in line with current GDPR guidelines. RSS depends on the goodwill of landlords, letting agents and tenants who provide details of rent levels being paid in the PRS. Please help us maintain the correct information on Scottish rents by completing our market evidence template.

If you prefer to use your own form or provide the information in another way, please feel free to do so.
