New Covid grant fund for tenants announced

SAL is very pleased to report that in response to our lobbying for more financial support for landlords and tenants affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Scottish Government has announced that it will introduce a new £10m grant fund to support tenants who are struggling as a direct result of the pandemic. The Scottish Government will now work with SAL and other stakeholders from the private and social rented sectors to finalise the details of the grant and work towards making the grant fund available later in the year. The expectation is that tenants who are in rent arrears will be able to apply for grant funding to pay off some or all of their arrears in order to sustain their tenancy. We will keep members updated with further details on this as they become available.
